Position Overview

The mission of the Office of Data and Technology is to support schools and the district as a whole to use technology and data effectively to accelerate student achievement. The Office includes the following teams:

  • The Information Technology team provides DCPS students and staff in every school with the infrastructure, systems, and support to use technology effectively to accelerate student achievement.

  • The Data team ensures stakeholders at all levels of the organization have access to accurate, timely, and relevant data, conducting analysis and research, and building school-based capacity to use data tools to inform planning and decision-making.

  • The Enterprise Application team leads the district’s efforts to ensure all DCPS students and staff, in every school, have application technology and systems needed to be successful.

The Information Technology team provides DCPS students and staff in every school with the infrastructure, systems, and support to use technology effectively to accelerate student achievement.

The Analyst, IT Asset Administration, is responsible for supporting the enhancement of technology, including deployment support, retrieval, and IT asset management strategy. The analyst will interface with DCPS staff as an IT liaison to support the deployment and usage of devices as well as maintain the IT asset tracking system and asset inventory. The analyst will work alongside the IT Asset Administration team to support the individual needs of schools as well as the needs of all offices and departments deployed at DCPS Central Office. IT Asset Analysts provide support through established processes as well as individual project work that relies on their ability to properly review inventory data and coordinate tasks based on it.

The Analyst, IT Asset Administration will report to the Manager, IT Asset Administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports the daily and long-term strategic management of technology-related hardware and software assets within DCPS.
  • Responds to requests from schools and central office departments for IT Asset needs or inquiries via tickets, emails, or chat.
  • Regularly engages with school Technical POCs to review asset tracking data, customer service satisfaction, issue resolution, as well as partnering with schools to coordinate annual cyclical tasks and advance district-wide initiatives.
  • Provides training and support to technology controllers with logistics of the day-to-day asset management actively creates/updates asset management processes, and procedures, as well as training material, such as guides, how-to videos, and knowledgebase articles.
  • Provides face-to-face and webinar asset management and syst training to end-users and property controllers at multiple locations.
  • Responsible for monitoring, and recording hardware assets and/or software licenses to ensure compliance with internal asset management policies and vendor contracts.
  • Performs quality control reviews of asset management records and systems.
  • Assists with warranty and out-of-warranty repairs of all technology assets, including computers, interactive boards, computer charging carts, and other technology used in District.
  • Responsible for reporting and escalation of issues to leadership in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Coordinates asset loss prevention and recovery activities including reporting of loss/theft and connecting with school and department technology controller to coordinate proper documentation of loss. Initiates device recovery procedures through endpoint management platforms.
  • Assists with on-site surveys of school spaces for technology installations and review of classroom technology implementation (requires transportation).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience OR two years of experience (no degree requirement).
  • Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
  • Advanced Excel experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Must be able to clearly and concisely describe problems or processes in a well-organized format with excellent oral and written communication skills; and demonstrated ability in coordinating cross-functional resources.
  • Ability to prioritize and quickly resolve issues; demonstrates interest in technology and business, and has excellent interpersonal skills; and has superior organizational, time, and project management skills in managing overlapping priorities.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Physical requirements – lifting and/or carrying 5-25 lbs. or more and the pushing and pulling of carts as required.
