Do you thrive on digging deep into complex data and mining solutions? Our Business Analytics team is growing, and we are seeking a dedicated developer with critical-thinking, business analytics, and programming acumen. Our BI team creates programs and reports to interpret data to uncover insights, patterns and trends that inform better decision-making.

The Analyst Programmer, Intermediate position plays a pivotal role in driving the transformation of raw data into actionable insights. This position is responsible for assisting the Business Analytics team with backend development and report development; The duties of the position require digging deep into complex data and mining solutions and working with attention to detail and accuracy.

This successful candidate will have knowledge of analytics with effective storytelling skills and requires working independently and under general supervision. Having the business acumen for technical growth and problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex issues is required.

Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the software development team to analyze issues, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and design reports based on end-user requirements.
  • Create, modify, and maintain custom dashboards, reports, and database queries/packages to support operational and analytical needs.
  • Generate and deliver reports using Business Intelligence tools, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve/promote team congeniality and disseminate information.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining documentation outlining functional specifications, test cases, system requirements, user stories and use cases to effectively capture and communicate the proposed solutions and deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, or some other technical or analytical subject.
  • 3+ years of professional job-related experience in business intelligence, system analysis, quality assurance, or another technical setting.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
  • Possess quantitative and analytical thinking skills
  • Experience with analytical tools, such as SQL, R, Python, Power BI and Tableau
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization to identify or communicate key insights,
data management, data governance, data strategy, data policy, or data engineering
  • Experience with querying or analyzing data to answer questions and solve problems
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task and plan for prioritizing workload within tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of business analysis or business intelligence tools or approaches
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing organizational processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in higher education is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource System
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience (minimum 2-years) coding in Oracle, Oracle APEX or one or more relational database management systems such as MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle for efficient data retrieval in a complex scheme.
  • Able to independently design, create, optimize, troubleshoot and manipulate databases using Oracle SQL and ANSI SQL: advanced SQL techniques, such as grouping,
  • Advanced experience with core database concepts and analysis
  • Experience with Oracle Apex 22 and above
  • Experience in implementing web-based systems.
  • 3+ years’ experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau or MicroStrategy
  • Experience with User Experience (UX) design
  • Experience designing and implementing visible, and innovative analytical strategies.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task and plan for prioritizing workload within tight deadlines.
  • Exposure to data management, data governance, data strategy, data policy, or data engineering
