Summary:
The Analyst, TL Procurement supports the execution of truckload procurement activities across Odyssey’s business units. Working under the guidance of the Manager, TL Procurement, this role assists with sourcing events, carrier data management, performance tracking, and market research. The Analyst, TL Procurement develops foundational procurement skills while contributing to the efficiency and responsiveness of Odyssey’s truckload sourcing function.
What You’ll Do:
Procurement Execution & Strategy
- Assist in executing truckload, flatbed, and intermodal procurement strategies under the direction of the Manager.
- Support truckload sourcing events across Odyssey’s businesses, assisting with data gathering, carrier outreach, and bid coordination.
- Assist in identifying network-based transportation solutions that support cost competitiveness and service requirements.
- Support bid analysis activities, assist with routing guide data entry, and help prepare award scenario summaries for review by the Manager.
Carrier Management & Market Insight
- Support the development and maintenance of working relationships with Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) under the guidance of the Manager.
- Assist the Manager in tracking carrier performance expectations and flagging adherence issues for review.
- Track and report carrier KPIs (OTD, acceptance, cost, compliance), surfacing performance trends to the Manager for corrective action.
- Gather and summarize market trend data to support internal pricing, planning, and budget processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support business unit procurement and operations teams by gathering requirements and providing data to assist in solution development.
- Assist with preparation of procurement data and market summaries to support internal discussions as needed.
- Collaborate with Master Data teams to ensure accurate routing data setup and maintenance.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes, enhance visibility, and improve carrier engagement.
- Assist in managing data related to the long-tail carrier base to support risk reduction and performance improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with organizational procurement policies, procedures, and corporate governance standards.
Operational Responsibilities
- Observe and support contract and service agreement processes under the guidance of the Manager, developing foundational knowledge of negotiation and contracting practices.
- Document and escalate carrier performance issues to the Manager in a timely and organized manner.
- Prepare routine reporting, data summaries, and analysis to support Manager and Director decision-making.
- Perform all other duties and projects, as assigned.
What You Bring:- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. An advanced degree in business administration is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related field; internship or co-op experience in transportation or procurement considered.
- Exposure to or coursework in transportation procurement, sourcing, or carrier management preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional partners.
