Analytical Chemist- Oilfield Fluids & Water Testing

We are seeking a highly motivated Analytical Chemist to join our laboratory team specializing in oilfield water chemistry and polymer testing. This position is ideal for candidates with a background in chemistry who are interested in applying their skills across a variety of analytical instruments and test methods in a team-based R&D environment. This full-time role involves hands-on lab work, technical support, and close collaboration with personnel to help solve real-world challenges in oilfield operations.

Primary Job Responsibilities & Expectations

·        Perform analytical testing on oilfield source waters, frac fluids, and polymer systems using methods such as:

·        ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma)

·        Titration (Alkalinity, Hardness, etc.)

·        Rheological Testing (viscometers, rheometers)

·        Oven drying & solids analysis

·        ATP testing

·        Raman spectroscopy

·        UV-Vis and Ion Chromatography (IC)

·        Friction flow loop and Dynamic Scale Loop testing

·        Assist in polymer characterization under various water chemistries

·        Conduct water chemistry assessments, identifying the impact of salinity, hardness, iron, pH, etc., on chemical additive performance

·        Document, analyze, and interpret data to provide technical reports for internal and external stakeholders

·        Collaborate with R&D, sales, and field support teams to develop technical insight that supports new and existing products

·        Participate in client-facing discussions to explain lab results and provide recommendations

·        Support lab housekeeping, inventory management, and equipment calibration

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

·        Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a closely related science (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry)

·        Entry-level candidates are welcome; training will be provided

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Strong interest in applied laboratory work, especially related to oilfield, water treatment, or polymer science

·        Experience with polyacrylamide polymers, oilfield fluid systems, or produced water chemistry

·        Familiarity with lab software such as RheoCompass, WinLab, or other instrument-specific platforms.

·        Internship or prior lab experience in water analysis, oil & gas, or industrial fluids

Skills & Attributes:

·        Detail-oriented with a passion for precision and quality in laboratory analysis

·        Strong organizational and communication skills

·        Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a dynamic, team-driven environment

·        Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret and communicate data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

·        Willingness to operate and learn specialized lab equipment and instruments

Work Environment

·        Position Located in Lafayette, Louisiana

·        Full-time position

·        Primarily lab-based

·        Minimal travel may be required for product knowledge, training, or client support (field exposure)
