Reports to Manager. Orders and manages supplies for Anesthesia and procedural related areas in Surgical Services. Stocks procedure rooms with adequate product. Sets up Art Line/Hot Lines to assist clinical staff. Maintains anesthesia equipment. Assists licensed anesthesia provider with duties related to the care and monitoring of patients and equipment.

Responsibilities
-
Cleans, sterilizes and sets up all anesthesia equipment.
-
Assists anesthesia provider with patient assessment, monitoring, transport, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management.

Provides daily maintenance of equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions.
-
Maintains an adequate inventory of necessary equipment and supplies.

Assists in the preparation of scheduled, emergent and urgent surgical procedures involving anesthesia care providers by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available, in working order & in proper location.
Ordering And Organizing
-
Keeps anesthesia office, storage, and supply area clean and orderly.

Monitors usage and orders supplies. Assures that needed stock supply items are located in proper places for easy access.

Performs and maintains the established unit cleaning procedures and activities as prescribed by policy.

Organizes and performs routine inventory checks to ensure adequate supply and check for outdates of anesthesia supplies.

Restocks anesthesia carts in the OR suites in the morning and before shift ends. Inventories and organizes anesthesia carts and machine drawers, as well as the storage areas.

Ensures necessary equipment is ready for use: hot lines, infusion pumps and hemodynamic equipment.

Informs Surgery manager of equipment that is in need of repair, to ensure availability to group.
Teamwork

Identifies areas that need improvement and communicates to center core charge or Surgery manager.

Assists with and informs anesthesia group of any supply or equipment issues.
-
Advises charge nurse/nurse manager/or anesthesia department of sensitive, emergent and potential problems with anesthesia supplies or equipment impact.

May be asked to assist with other supply tasks such as replenishment, unpacking or organizing for Surgical Services areas.

May be asked to assist with other duties when staffing is lower than normal.

Reports any issues to manager if experiencing missing or back ordered supplies, or unable to complete daily duties.

Education And Experience
-
The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must maintain BLS and NRP certifications. Previous experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
-
A working knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.

Thorough knowledge and function of all autoclave routines, including aseptic technique testing, monitoring, cleaning and record keeping.
Working Conditions

Must be able to deal with moderate to high levels of stress due to demands of the surgical team and the critical nature of many procedures.

May work long hours without break when on call or in other emergency situations.
Physical Demands

Able to stand for long periods of time, sometimes in awkward positions due to length and nature of surgical procedures.
