Purpose and Scope of the Job
Anesthesia Technician assures the quality of service and monitoring for patients undergoing anesthesia in all anesthetizing locations throughout the hospital. Maintains, services, sets up, tests, and troubleshoots equipment and provides technical assistance to the Anesthesia staff in the care of patients.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards

Prepare anesthetizing location for indicated procedure to include setting up

Daily Inspecting and calibration of anesthesia machine, ventilators, monitoring devices space lab, E.C.G. Monitors, defibrillators and Suction apparatus for anesthesia machine and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing nonfunctional equipment to proper department for repair

Consult operating room schedule to determine supply and equipment needs for procedures

Ensures appropriate technical coverage by assigning staff appropriately and resolves operational problems with appropriate inter- and intra- departmental personnel in the absence of the supervisor.

Ensures equipment for use in the work area such as, but not limited to, connecting input and output hoses, bronchoscopes, and assembling breathing circuits. Delivers required anesthesia equipment as needed.

Acting as a super user to help his colleagues in solving I care issues.

Supervising of positioning the patients on heating and cooling mattresses and adjust in accordance with instructions; attach mattresses to hypothermia machine and regulate proper temperature

Assist anesthesiologist using aseptic or sterile technique with non invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheral, central, intravenous and/or arterial line placement

Assist anesthesiologist for airway management techniques including mask-Bag, endo-tracheal and/or emergency methods and regional anesthesia techniques

Assist anesthesiologist with physiological monitoring of patients and notifying of abnormal changes in vital signs and/or physical appearance of the patient

Preparing drugs and labeling syringes as requested by and under the supervision and circulation complication.

Assist the anesthesiologist during induction, maintenance and reversal of anesthesia, regional anesthesia, C.P.R. and all related procedures

Clean anesthesia machines, monitors and equipment following procedures established by infection control.

Special preparation for those patients which have Hepatitis A, B, C, HIV, T.B, and other chronic diseases

Stock anesthesia supplies in all anesthetizing location including crash carts, fiber optic carts, emergency airway bags and any other anesthesia supply location.

Maintain immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures and obtain blood products and pharmaceuticals if needed
17
Participate in latest anesthesia related research programs such as symposiums, workshops, short courses, etc.
Qualifications, Competences and Skills
Education
Diploma / Graduate in Anesthesiology Technician
Experience
Minimum 3 to 5 years in the same field
Licensure
As per the MOH requirement
Language
Proficiency in English Language
Computer Proficiency
Good computer skills
