Within the mission, vision and values, assists with the care and organization of all standard Anesthesia equipment, positioning devices, supplies and limited aspects of patient care. Perform technical and supportive care tasks to assist the Anesthesiologists in providing anesthesia care services.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Responsible for routine insertion of all intravenous infusions in the operating room, liaison with the Anesthesiologist.
- Responsible for initial application of all non-invasive Anesthesia related patient monitoring.
- Responsible for routine daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and cleaning of all Anesthesia related equipment.
- Responsible for routine daily, weekly and monthly care and cleaning of all Anesthesia related storage and work areas, to include Operating suite, labor and Delivery, MRI, Angio, Endoscopy and any other designated Anesthesia areas.
- Responsible for specific case-by-case preparation for all Anesthetic procedures, to include all general anesthetic, all regional anesthetic standby procedures and any other related anesthetic invasive procedures.
- Responsible for proper daily restocking of Anesthesia consumables in all designated areas.
- Provide transportation assistance to patients to and from all Anesthesia related areas, to include operating rooms, recovery areas, all intensive care units and any other relevant areas.
- Responsible for drawing of any Anesthesia related venous or arterial blood samples upon requests of Anesthesiologists.
- Provide assistance in positioning patients for all Anesthetic and surgical procedures.
- Whenever possible and appropriate to assist other operating room personnel with patient care tasks.
- Responsible for daily and weekly distribution of all Anesthesia consumables and pharmaceutical items
- Responsible for ordering blood and blood products under direct supervision of Anesthesiologist; appropriate checking and administration of blood products.
- Under direct supervision of Anesthesiologist, perform airway maintenance and straightforward endotracheal intubation.
- Under direct supervision of Anesthesiologist, perform insertion of straightforward arterial catheterization.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge of the Anesthesia department’s rules, regulations and protocols where appropriate.
- Responsible for distribution and storage of the Anesthesia department consumables and drugs.
- Prepare and administer intravenous drugs under the instruction and supervision of Anesthesiologists.
- Responsible for teaching and training of students and graduates.
- Cover calls for night shift, emergency shift, weekend, and overtime as per monthly call seclude.
- Complete 30 hours continuous Medical Education (CME) per year.
- Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
- Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Provide clear understandable information to patients that related to anesthesia & health.
Job Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum or Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Anesthesia from a recognized institution.
- Training program in an Anesthesia field available through a hospital or a college.
- SCFHS license.
- BLS.
