Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Anesthesiologist to the Department of Veterans Affair (VA medical center) The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures, monitoring their vital signs, and ensuring their safety throughout the perioperative process. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of various medical specialties and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care.

Credentials

The Contractor’s physician(s) assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract shall have a current license to practice medicine in ANY State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.

Duties

  • Administer anesthesia to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as necessary.
  • Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and assessments to determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and other medical professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide acute pain management solutions post-surgery.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in clinical research and contribute to the advancement of anesthesiology practices.
  • Engage in patient education regarding anesthesia processes and postoperative care.

Skills
Candidates should possess a diverse skill set, including but not limited to:

  • Proficiency in EHR systems and EMR systems for accurate patient documentation.
  • Experience with medical imaging techniques relevant to anesthesiology.
  • Knowledge of various specialties such as psychiatry, endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, and more.
  • Expertise in airway management and critical care experience.
  • Familiarity with advanced procedures including cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and botulinum toxin treatment.
  • Strong patient assessment skills and the ability to develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Basic life support certification and advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient service and teamwork.
