Compensation: Revenue share post-release and part time or full time pay if funding is secured. Must be comfortable contributing 15+ hours per week unpaid for 3–6 months. Ideal for portfolio building and gaining industry experience with a 20+ person dev team.
About Us
We are a passionate and growing indie studio developing a unique VR game that blends immersive gameplay with stylized multiplayer experiences. We’re currently seeking a 3D Animator/Rigger to help bring our low-poly characters and creatures to life through expressive, dynamic animation and clean, functional rigs.
This position is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience on a large-scale project, expand your professional network, and sharpen your skills in animation, rigging, and VR workflows.
Role & Responsibilities
As a 3D Animator/Rigger, you will:
- Create and polish animations for characters, creatures, and player interactions.
- Build and maintain rigs for characters, ensuring clean deformation and usability.
- Collaborate with modelers, designers, and developers to integrate rigs and animations into Unity.
- Animate first-person and third-person interactions that feel immersive and responsive in VR.
- Participate in team feedback loops, iterating on animations to improve player experience.
- Help define the game’s motion style, adding character and personality through animation.
Requirements
- A portfolio or reel showcasing animations and/or rigging work (student or personal projects welcome).
- Experience with animation/rigging software such as Blender, Maya, or similar.
- Understanding of core animation principles (timing, weight, anticipation, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of rigging workflows (controllers, skinning, constraints).
- Willingness to learn Unity animation pipelines and collaborate in a remote team.
- Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and a proactive mindset.
- Passion for animation, rigging, VR, and stylized game art.
