POSITION: Anticipated Transportation Specialist
Twelve (12) Month Position

SCHOOL/PROGRAM: Transportation Department

START DATE: May 01, 2026- Pending Criminal History Clearance

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, advanced coursework preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Proficient and experienced in word processing, including Microsoft Word, Excel or equivalent spreadsheet applications
  • Demonstrates computer and software skills applicable to cooperative transportation routing and billing system
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Commission may find appropriate and acceptable

SCOPE:
Performs the daily transportation duties required to operate the program and maintain open communication with districts, parents/guardians, vendors and receiving schools.

REPORTS TO:
Transportation Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the processing and maintenance of records/contracts for transportation
  • Maintain current logging of mail/letters/correspondence with response and assist in organizing and expediting the daily workload of the Transportation Coordinator
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets for reviewing vendor payments, as compared to contracted amounts
  • Produce and maintain purchase orders
  • Book and confirm field trips
  • Assist in preparing up-to-date pupils listings, notifications for contractors, parents, guardians and district information on all routes prior to the beginning of the school year and as needed
  • Prepare bid packages and assist at Bid Openings
  • Assist districts in need of mi-year transportation placements. Notify districts, parents/guardians, contractors as needed
  • Assist with scheduling meetings as needed with districts to solicit input for the program evaluation problem resolution, and to ensure safe and cost effective coordination of transportation
  • Assist with regular monitoring of transportation routes to assure contractors are in full compliance with the specifications and in adherence to health and safety requirements
  • Assist in developing and maintaining spreadsheets for reviewing vendor payments, as compared to district billings
  • Preparation of monthly transportation enclosure for board Agenda as assigned
  • Assist in preparation of contracts for submission to county Office
  • Assist in quoting and assigning new routes
  • Enter requisitions for transportation contracts, goods and services
  • Monitor and report all accidents or incidents per guidelines
  • Assist in maintaining transportation page on Commission website
  • Assist in preparation and recording of contractors’ monthly payment certification
  • Maintain vendor directories
  • Assist in maintaining insurance records and files for compliance bid documents
  • Process aide in lieu of payments
  • Other duties and responsibilities the Transportation Coordinator and Business Administrator as assigned

BENEFITS: Full-time staff are eligible for Medical, Prescription, and Dental Benefits. Pension system enrollment varies by position and certification. Vacation, Sick, Personal and Bereavement Days are included.

Minimum Salary: $50,000.00/yr.
