AP English Language, Literature, and Composition Tutor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced tutor to provide personalized instruction to high school students in AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English literature, composition, rhetoric, and language analysis, along with a passion for teaching and helping students succeed academically.

Responsibilities:

• Develop customized lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to each student's individual learning needs and goals.
• Provide comprehensive tutoring sessions covering key concepts, literary analysis, essay writing strategies, rhetorical analysis, and test preparation for the AP English Lang or AP English Lit exam.
• Assist students in analyzing and interpreting literary texts, including novels, plays, poems, and nonfiction prose.
• Teach effective writing techniques, including thesis development, paragraph structure, evidence integration, and argumentation.
• Guide students in honing their critical thinking skills and fostering deeper insights into literary works and rhetorical strategies.
• Administer practice exams and assessments to evaluate student progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Offer constructive feedback and guidance on student assignments, essays, and projects to help them refine their writing and analytical skills.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in the AP English Lang or AP English Lit's curriculum, exam format, and scoring guidelines.
• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality in all interactions with students and their families.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, literature, education, or a related field
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience, especially in AP English Lang or AP English Lit
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
• Proficiency in analyzing literary texts and rhetorical strategies.
• Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
• Reliable access to necessary teaching materials, technology, and resources.
• Positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for helping students achieve their academic goals.

Schedule:
This is a part-time or freelance position with flexible scheduling based on the availability of the tutor and the needs of the students.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
