Description: The High School Biology Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging instruction in Biology, including Advanced Placement (AP) Biology. The teacher will prepare students for college-level scientific study by fostering inquiry-based learning, laboratory skills, critical thinking, and mastery of biological concepts aligned with the College Board AP Biology framework.The ideal candidate demonstrates deep content expertise, strong classroom management, and a passion for preparing students for AP exam success and STEAM pathways.

Teach College Preparatory and AP Biology courses.

Design and implement lessons aligned with state standards and College Board AP Biology Course and Exam Description (CED).

Prepare students for success on the AP Biology exam, including FRQ practice and data analysis.

Integrate inquiry-based learning and laboratory investigations.

Ensure students develop skills in experimental design, statistical analysis, and scientific reasoning.

Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.

Design and supervise safe and engaging laboratory experiences.

Maintain lab equipment, materials, and inventory.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper chemical handling procedures.

Teach proper lab documentation and scientific reporting.

Develop formative and summative assessments aligned to AP standards.

Analyze student performance data to inform instruction.

Provide timely and constructive feedback.

Maintain accurate grade records and documentation.

Provide academic support through tutoring or office hours.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related life science field (Master’s preferred).

Valid state teaching certification in Science/Biology

Experience teaching high school Biology.

Experience teaching AP Biology strongly preferred.

Experience preparing students for AP exams preferred.

Strong knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and cellular processes.

Experience implementing inquiry-based and lab-centered instruction.

Ability to teach complex scientific concepts clearly.

Proficiency with lab technology and data analysis tools.

Strong classroom management and communication skills.
AP Biology certification or College Board AP Summer Institute training. -
Experience with dual credit or honors courses.
