1️ Planning & Preparation

· Plan lifting operations in line with project requirements and safety regulations

· Review lift plans, drawings, and site conditions

· Ensure the selection of appropriate lifting equipment and accessories

2️ Risk Assessment & Safety

· Conduct risk assessments for all lifting activities

· Identify hazards and control measures

· Ensure compliance with local and international lifting regulations (e.g., Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations – LOLER)

· Ensure all lifting equipment has valid inspection and certification

3️ Coordination & Communication

· Liaise with riggers, crane operators, engineers, and site supervisors

· Confirm signals, hand signs, or radio communication protocols for lifts

· Coordinate the sequence of lifts to avoid conflicts on site

4️ Supervision & Execution

· Supervise lifting operations to ensure safe execution

· Ensure proper rigging, slinging, and securing of loads

· Stop operations if safety risks arise and take corrective measures

5️ Documentation & Record Keeping

· Maintain lifting plans, checklists, and permits

· Record daily lifting activities and inspections

· Ensure all incidents or near-misses are reported and documented

6️ Equipment Inspection & Verification

· Verify cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and other lifting gear before use

· Ensure equipment is certified, in good condition, and suitable for the load
