The Interventional Cardiology APP provides advanced clinical care to adult cardiovascular patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings under the supervision of collaborating interventional cardiologists. This role includes patient evaluation, peri-procedural management, diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care across the continuum of cardiovascular services.
The PA functions as an integral member of the cardiovascular team, supporting high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations
- Round daily with attending interventional cardiologists and multidisciplinary care teams
- Monitor and manage post-procedural patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, vascular access site assessments, and complication surveillance
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic testing including ECGs, telemetry, laboratory data, echocardiograms, and stress testing
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Coordinate discharge planning, medication reconciliation, follow-up care, and patient education
- Respond to inpatient cardiovascular consultations and urgent patient needs
- Participate in call coverage, weekend rotations, and hospital-based cardiovascular emergencies as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Master’s degree required
Licensure and Certification
- Current Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner license in West Virginia
- Nationally accredited certification as Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner
