APP Surgical Nocturnist

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the APP Surgical Nocturnist role manages health problems and coordinates health care in the CTS intensive care unit with exclusive coverage during the night shift hours. Responsible for delivering patient care and medical services to individuals, families and groups by utilizing standards of care in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations to assess health status, diagnose medical conditions, develop medical plan of care, implement treatments and evaluate patient responses in collaboration with a collaborative/sponsoring physician as describes in a Collaborative Practice Agreement.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Required Education and Experience
Master Degree Nursing
Preferred Education and Experience
- Training specific to acute care inpatient settings desired.
Previous APRN or PA-C experience desired.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - State Board of Nursing Copy of the current PA-C or APRN license for the State of Kansas and/or Missouri (depending on practice locations)
Advanced practice certification required. Specific certification may be required depending on specialty.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) if assigned to work in the ICU.
- Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) - State Board of Healing Arts
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) if assigned to work in the ICU.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) required for positions in the ICU. OR
Non trained/certified AG-ACNP may be considered if they have extensive ICU experience as an RN and are willing to sign an agreement to complete a post-master’s AG-ACNP certificate program within 2 years of hire.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- APRNs: Adult Gero Acute Care NP certification preferred for all in-patient settings.
