APPAREL IMPORT PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

Position Summary

The import coordinator is responsible for overseeing the production process from purchase order issuance through final delivery. This role works closely with overseas manufacturing partners and internal teams to ensure products are delivered on time, within budget, and meet company quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in apparel production manufacturing, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is experienced, detail-oriented in managing multiple production orders simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

Account Ownership: supervise the full production lifecycle for assigned retail accounts, ensuring products move accurately from development to final delivery

Factory Communication: Act as the primary daily point of contact and coordinate with overseas factories on WIP, sampling, fit approvals, production timelines, and quality standards

Milestone Tracking: Track and supervise critical path calendars, WIP reports, costing sheets to ensure all milestones and deadlines are met with accuracy

Sourcing & Costing: Support the sourcing of fabrics, trims, and raw materials; actively participate in negotiating pricing, MOQs, and production lead times.

Vendor Accountability: Maintain strong, professional relationships with global vendors and suppliers to ensure on-time performance and accountability.

Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot production delays, quality deviations, and transit challenges with urgency, clarity, and professionalism. Conduct quality control checks and resolve production issues proactively. Communicate production updates, issues, and delivery timelines clearly across teams and with clients. Ensure all products meet customer compliance, testing, and labeling requirements

Cross-Functional Support: Review and approve lab dips, strike-offs, fabric headers, and pre-production samples Review tech packs, sample approvals, testing protocols, and shipping logistics in close coordination with customers and internal design teams to meet production and delivery goals.

Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in an import production and product development within the apparel industry.

Solid product knowledge of textiles, fabric composition, garment manufacturing processes, factory workflows, production timelines, and costing.

Strong execution skills working with high-volume retailers and serve as the critical anchor managing key retail production accounts, driving workflows, and maintaining vital vendor relationships. Excellent communication and problem-solving.

Tech skills proficiency in using AIMS, inventory management, or production management systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, (WIP tracking)

Organization & Detail Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail Highly organized, adaptable, and thrives under pressure in a fast-moving environment
