We are looking for an Application (CAD)Designer/Architectural drafter for our Deland, FL office!
This is an in-office position (not remote or WFH) and is NOT eligible for sponsorship.
Summary: The Applications Designer is responsible for supporting the technical application of insulated metal panel products across a variety of construction projects. This role involves direct communication with architects, contractors, and project owners to provide guidance on product performance, installation, and compliance with building codes and standards.
Working closely with internal teams, the Applications Designer develops installation details and ensures the accuracy of technical documents, CAD drawings, and BIM content. The role also supports product development efforts and helps troubleshoot application challenges to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate directly with Architects, Specifiers, General/Sub-contractors, and Project Owners regarding the performance, implementation, and technical specifications of Kingspan panel products.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Sales, Customer Service, Compliance, Technical, R&D, Operations, and Marketing, regarding product and application information.
- Work with customers and vendors to align on project requirements and troubleshoot product-related challenges, ensuring satisfaction and technical accuracy.
- Develop and modify installation details and application instructions standard and for non-standard conditions or project-specific applications, ensuring clarity and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of North American building regulations, including structural codes, energy codes, and testing and certification standards.
- Assist with maintaining and updating CAD drawing standards, ensuring that they remain consistent and aligned with the latest product updates and regulatory changes.
- Review project specifications and contribute to creating project-specific product submittals that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Support product development efforts and collaborate on design enhancements and product innovations.
- Perform peer checks to ensure the accuracy and quality of deliverables from colleagues, maintaining a high standard across all technical documents and communications.
- Assist in the creation, updating, and maintenance of Building Information Modeling (BIM) content and related bundles, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date for internal and external use.
- Actively participate in both internal projects and external customer projects, offering technical support, contributing to project goals, and helping to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Support the team with various other tasks and responsibilities as needed to meet departmental goals and project timelines.
- Follow the Group Code of Conduct and Group Compliance.
- Follow Compliance requirements per “KNA-SOP-1705 Compliance Roles and Responsibilities.”
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Strong understanding of panel products and related building systems.
- Proven experience in technical support or a similar role within the building products industry.
- Solid experience with AutoCad, Revit, or other drawing programs.
- Knowledge of North American building regulations, energy codes, and testing standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with BIM software and content creation is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and disciplines to ensure project success.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A degree or equivalent experience in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, though not required.
