Application Engineer – Power Generation/Gensets/Generators

About the Role

A leading power generation solutions company is seeking an experienced Application Engineering Specialist to join its engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in diesel generator application engineering, including generator sizing and selection, room layout design, ventilation systems, acoustic calculations, and special enclosure/container solutions.

This role requires close collaboration with sales, design, and project teams to deliver customized technical solutions for clients across various industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Support sales and project teams with technical application engineering solutions.
• Perform diesel generator sizing and selection based on project load requirements and operational needs.
• Prepare generator room layouts including ventilation, exhaust routing, fuel systems, and maintenance accessibility.
• Conduct acoustic/noise level calculations and recommend suitable attenuation solutions.
• Design and review special containers, canopies, and enclosure solutions for generator systems.
• Prepare technical submittals, compliance sheets, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with internal departments and customers to ensure project requirements are met.
• Provide technical support and guidance during proposal and project execution stages.
• Ensure compliance with relevant international standards and engineering practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in power generation systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience in diesel generator application/design engineering.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Generator sizing and selection
• Power generation systems
• Ventilation and exhaust calculations
• Acoustic/noise attenuation
• Generator room layouts
• Containerized/enclosure solutions
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Experience preparing technical proposals and engineering documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with major diesel generator brands or power generation OEMs.
• Familiarity with international engineering standards such as ISO and IEC.
• Experience in containerized or harsh-environment generator solutions is highly preferred.
• GCC market/project exposure is an advantage.

Pay: QAR6,000.00 - QAR10,000.00 per hour
