Application Engineering Lead

  • To supervise the Application Engineer team at the Cairo office, Egypt.
  • Distribute workload in the department to ensure due dates are met and manage day-to-day activities through KPIs.
  • Prepare quotes (low to highly complex) on time and with minimal supervision
  • Enter orders in a timely and clean manner and support other AE’s for the same
  • Support customers, Reps and ASM’s throughout the “quote to order” execution cycle
  • Understand customer needs and market level
  • Coordinate all players to achieve the target date and receive correct information
  • Communicate with respective region SE’s & ASM’s in order to define priorities
  • Support SE’s & ASM’s face to customer on technical and commercial discussions
  • Train region of responsibility AE’s in order to give them all skills to quote more and more difficult projects
  • Control of offers done by the respective responsibility region AE team

  • Report to Tendering Director – EMEA for the purpose of developing a superior staff of Application Engineers who are committed to supporting the Region of responsibility efforts for growth.
  • Review with ASM’s all RFQ’s for / from region, prioritize and distribute workload to the team and alternative sources if required
  • Decide in cooperation with respective ASM’s and CSM which jobs will be quoted, in implementation of the selective biding strategy.
  • Handle personally key highly complex jobs with no supervision
  • Support Application Engineers and Sales Engineers in offering the optimized solution, internal/external
  • training, product development opportunities or cross functional assistance.
  • Assist Application Engineers and Region Sales Engineers in setting the optimal bid strategy, reviewing specifications or replying to technical questionnaires.
  • Skillful use of market and competitor knowledge to optimize closing chances
  • Implement company programs and policies concerning sales issues
  • Assist in all ways and manners to resolve customer problems and issues.
  • Assist region Application Engineers and Sales Engineers with issues relating to orders.
  • Support all formal training programs and exercises as required
  • Constantly seek ways for internal processes improvement, including creation of new processes, if needed.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers and within the organization to facilitate problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Manage a clean order process for all orders in the respective region
  • Work with all sub-vendors.
  • Lead by example to develop a strong culture around quality and customer service.
  • Support Exhibition at trade fairs and customer visits, as needed.


Education:

B.Sc. In Engineering.


Experience:

  • 12 years of experience in rotating equipment industry with solid knowledge in centrifugal pump application engineering (design principle, hydraulics, materials, sealing systems, drivers and other auxiliaries) with at least 5 years in managerial role with team leadership responsibilities such as recruiting, mentoring, training and KPIs management..etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of tendering process and proven record of handling technical complex/high value tenders for EPCs, OEMs, or major EUs.
  • Mastering related industrial standards, such as API610, API682, ISO 5199, ANSI B73…etc.
  • Solid experience in major EMEA regional EPCs and End Users specifications such as Shell, Aramco, ADNOC,
  • Saipem, Technip, Tecnicas Reunidas, ENPPI…etc.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including bid strategy, risk review and negotiation support.
  • Demonstrated success in building customer relationships at senior levels.


Skills/Knowledge:

  • Fluent in English (other language plus)
  • Team Oriented
  • Strong PC Skills with Windows and Office Programs
  • Self -Starter
  • Ability to establish relationships with Customer base
  • Excellent Communication and Timing Skills.
