Application Senior Specialist (Product-Oriented)

The Application Senior Specialist is responsible for end-to-end ownership of assigned enterprise applications throughout their lifecycle.

The role focuses on ensuring applications are effectively delivered, activated, adopted, stabilized, and continuously improved to meet business and operational needs.

This role shifts accountability from project-based delivery to long-term application ownership , ensuring sustained value realization, reduced vendor dependency, and alignment with corporate objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


Application Ownership & Lifecycle Management

  • Own assigned enterprise applications end-to-end, from planning and delivery through go-live, stabilization, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary point of accountability for application performance, stability, utilization, and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure applications remain aligned with business needs and deliver sustained operational value over time.


Delivery Oversight & Governance

  • Oversee delivery activities to ensure alignment with approved scope, timeline, and budget, while maintaining post-delivery accountability.
  • Identify and manage delivery and operational risks that may impact application stability, adoption, or sustainability.
  • Ensure adherence to approved governance frameworks, policies, standards, and quality expectations.
  • Monitor vendor delivery performance and ensure commitments are met from an application ownership perspective.


Business Engagement & Adoption

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand operational needs and usage challenges.
  • Drive application activation and adoption across relevant functions.
  • Collect post-go-live feedback, monitor usage, and propose enhancements to improve effectiveness and user adoption.
  • Ensure full and effective utilization of application features, targeting maximum functional coverage.


Product, Functional & Solution Ownership

  • Develop a deep understanding of system functions, features, and workflows and how they support business operations.
  • Participate actively in functional walkthroughs, solution demos, and design discussions.
  • Support prioritization of requirements and enhancements based on business value.
  • Contribute to defining a clear product/solution vision aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a delivery-focused roadmap that aligns scope, priorities, timeline, and budget.


Solution Evaluation & Procurement Support

  • Evaluate proposed solutions from a functional and operational perspective.
  • Participate in solution comparison and selection activities.
  • Contribute to RFI and RFP processes, including requirement definition, evaluation support, and vendor clarifications.
  • Ensure selected solutions align with enterprise architecture and long-term sustainability objectives.


Acceptance & Release Readiness

  • Participate in functional and technical acceptance of delivered solutions.
  • Ensure solutions are fit for purpose, compliant with standards, and ready for activation/go-live.
  • Support release readiness and deployment coordination activities .


Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Support troubleshooting and issue resolution related to assigned applications.
  • Coordinate fixes and enhancements to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization, enhancement, integration, and automation.
  • Proactively propose improvements that enhance efficiency, usability, and business value.


Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of enterprise applications and business processes.
  • Ability to bridge business needs with technical implementation.
  • Experience working with vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability beyond project delivery.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in application delivery, enterprise systems, or application ownership roles.
  • Project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) are considered an advantage.
