Description of Work
This position serves as the Cloud Operations Lead responsible for provisioning and administering enterprise-grade AWS infrastructure supporting complex information technology applications across DHHS. Operating in a hybrid data center environment, this role ensures continuous system availability, drives automation and optimization, and ensures compliance with security and privacy standards. The position requires technical leadership in areas such as server management, database support, and infrastructure troubleshooting, and plays a vital role in supporting operational needs and emergency response scenarios. Key duties span infrastructure deployment, team guidance, and cross-functional collaboration within a mission-critical IT environment.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade Range: $88,187 - $154,327

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Demonstrated experience with provisioning and managing AWS infrastructure for large-scale applications.
Demonstrated experience with scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
Demonstrated experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
Demonstrated experience managing AWS services, including EC2, S3, VPC/Subnet, Messaging, and RDS.
Demonstrated experience supporting cloud environments with a focus on operational stability and compliance.
In collaboration with our partners, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) protects the health and safety of all North Carolinians and provides essential health and human services. The IT division (ITD) is one of the divisions that reports to the Operational Excellence portfolio. The ITD division comprises six sections: Implementation and Operations, Strategy and Workforce, Enterprise Technology, Vendor and Finance, Data and Analytics, and Cyber and Privacy. Veterans’ and National Guard Preference

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT-related field, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution, and six years of progressive experience in business application, business intelligence, or enterprise application consulting or development
