This is a 1099 independent contractor position with hourly compensation and no benefits. The provider will begin seeing patients shortly after onboarding, with patient volume gradually increasing. Based on current demand, we anticipate that a full-time schedule can be established within approximately 1–2 months.

The role will involve a hybrid work model, including collaboration with an MD, as well as a combination of telehealth and in-person patient care at our clinic locations (specific sites TBD).

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) for our Psychiatry practice to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive psychiatric care across diverse patient populations, including outpatient, inpatient, and specialized settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, and hospitals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for improving mental health outcomes through evidence-based practices. You will play a vital role in delivering patient-centered care, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and utilizing advanced electronic health record systems to ensure accurate documentation and seamless care coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and diagnostic evaluations, utilizing clinical knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and psychiatric terminology.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy modalities, and behavioral health interventions tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Administer medications with expertise in injection administration, medication management, and understanding of CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, dermal fillers, or spinal taps when necessary within scope of practice; ensure sterile technique and infection control standards are maintained.
  • Manage acute pain and behavioral health crises through triage protocols and emergency interventions in hospital or outpatient settings.
  • Utilize EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, patient records management, and coding compliance including ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and coordination of post-acute or hospice care services.
  • Engage in telehealth consultations to expand access to psychiatric services while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing mental health care delivery.

Experience

  • Proven clinical experience in psychiatry within hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or outpatient behavioral health settings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth is advantageous.
  • Strong background in working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
  • Experience managing complex cases involving acute care scenarios such as ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with procedures like IV infusion, venipuncture, catheterization, airway management, and ventilator support enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Knowledge of pharmacological treatments including psychopharmacology for mood disorders or substance use disorders; familiarity with Workers’ Compensation law is beneficial.
  • Prior involvement in clinical research or teaching hospital environments demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
