Location: Concord, NC

Are you passionate about aquatic life and ready to dive into an exciting and rewarding career? Join our dynamic Displays team at SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord, where every day brings you closer to amazing animals, incredible guests, and meaningful conservation work.

What You’ll Do:

As an Aquarist, you'll be part of a dedicated team responsible for the daily care, feeding, and life support system maintenance of our diverse collection of marine and freshwater species — including elasmobranchs (sharks & rays), fish, reptiles, and invertebrates.

Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare diets and feed aquatic animals according to established protocols.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and exhibit care for aquatic displays.

  • Accurately complete daily animal care, water quality, and dive logs.

  • Assist in animal health care including quarantine, diagnostics, and treatment.

  • Perform dive-based maintenance in large exhibits (including our 200,000-gallon tropical ocean tank).

  • Engage guests with interactive presentations and educational talks — sometimes in dive gear!

  • Support life support system (LSS) operation, maintenance, and water chemistry.

  • Assist with animal transports and acclimations.

  • Maintain dive equipment and diver safety standards.

  • Contribute to continuous improvements in animal care and exhibit quality.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Marine Biology, Zoology, Psychology) or an aquarium/zoological certification preferred.

  • Prior experience in a public aquarium or zoo setting.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • SCUBA diving experience and willingness to dive regularly as part of daily duties.

  • Passionate about animals, conservation, and delivering unforgettable guest experiences.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, or working in wet and varied conditions

  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings ️

  • Willingness to travel locally on occasion

  • Ability to meet AZA, USDA, and Merlin Entertainments Health & Safety standards
