Position Title: Aquarium Specialist Lead
Package: Terminals Facilities Management
Location: JEDCO – King Abdulaziz International Airport
Reports To: Terminals Services Planning & Operation Lead
The Aquarium Specialist Lead is responsible for managing, supervising, and ensuring the safe, healthy, and continuous operation of aquarium systems within the airport terminals. The role ensures that all aquarium assets, aquatic life, water quality systems, filtration systems, lighting, and related MEP interfaces are maintained to the highest standards, supporting passenger experience and terminal aesthetics.

Supervise the daily operation and maintenance of all aquarium systems within the terminals.

Monitor water quality parameters, including temperature, pH, salinity, oxygen levels, ammonia, nitrate, and other critical indicators.

Ensure proper functioning of filtration, circulation, pumps, lighting, dosing, UV, and life-support systems.

Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities related to aquarium equipment.

Inspect the health and condition of fish, plants, coral, or other aquatic life and escalate any abnormal conditions.

Manage feeding schedules, cleaning routines, water changes, and tank hygiene requirements.

Coordinate with specialist subcontractors, suppliers, veterinarians, or marine life experts when required.

Maintain records of inspections, water testing, maintenance activities, incidents, and corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, hygiene, and animal welfare requirements.

Support emergency response in case of system failure, water leakage, contamination, or aquatic life distress.

Coordinate with MEP, BMS, electrical, plumbing, and civil teams where aquarium systems interface with terminal infrastructure.

Ensure proper storage and handling of aquarium chemicals, consumables, tools, and spare parts.

Prepare regular reports on aquarium condition, risks, maintenance needs, and improvement recommendations.

Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Specialized training in aquarium maintenance, aquatic life support systems, or water treatment is preferred.

HSE training and basic risk assessment knowledge are preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience in aquarium operation and maintenance, aquatic life support systems, or water treatment systems.

Experience in large public facilities, airports, hotels, malls, or entertainment facilities is preferred.

Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating with MEP teams is an advantage.

Strong knowledge of aquarium life-support systems and water quality management.

Ability to identify early signs of equipment failure or aquatic life health issues.

Good coordination and reporting skills.

Awareness of safety, hygiene, and environmental requirements.

Ability to work in a live, high-profile terminal environment.

Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and operational disruptions.

Aquarium systems remain operational, clean, safe, and visually presentable at all times.

Water quality remains within approved limits.

Preventive maintenance is completed as scheduled.

Emergencies and abnormalities are escalated and addressed immediately.

No avoidable impact on passenger experience, terminal image, or aquatic life welfare.
