Hours: 15 –20 hours/week | 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Arkansas Crisis Center provides compassionate, confidential support to individuals experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, and suicidal crisis. As part of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, we ensure Arkansans have someone to turn to 24/7.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide support to Peer Support Specialist answering AR Teen Connect 
  • Monitor contacts to AR Teen Connect
  • Provide AR Teen Connect Curriculum training to Peer Support Specialists 
  • Support volunteers with reporting requirements for AR Teen Connect 
  • Participate in Youth Advisory Council Meetings 
  • Provide quality improvement and maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in accordance with organizational standards 
  • Provide empathetic, nonjudgmental support using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to youth 
  • Maintain high level of professionalism with Peer Support Specialist volunteers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related social sciences field
  • Must be available to regularly work from our Bentonville office between the hours of 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and compassionate in high-stress situations
  • Experience working with youth, including having the ability to establish rapport and mentor youth.
  • Ability to mentor youth

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education or experience in public health, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or related field
  • Experience supporting individuals in crisis or working with vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge of suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, or crisis intervention practices
  • Familiarity with Arkansas resources and service systems
  • Bilingual skills or lived experience navigating mental health systems
  • Crisis Intervention Experience preferred and ability to attend Arkansas Crisis Center Trainings and an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
