Arabic Elementary Teacher

Job Summary

A Teacher is responsible for providing an educational environment where students have the opportunity to ful fil their learning potential. This person is accountable for implementing an instructional programme cognisant with the ‘approved’ curriculum of the school that will result in students achieving academic success and personal growth in accordance with vision, philosophy and policies.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Teaching a required number of hours, sometimes across a range of grade levels and subjects.
• Class preparation and subsequent marking of class work.
• Assessing student participation, progress and performance.
• Writing student reports as required.
• Participating in school trips, events and activities, possibly outside regular school hours.
• Follow direction from senior staff including:
  • Writing or amending pacing charts/curriculum documents.
  • Substituting for absent teachers.
  • Attending meetings.
  • Producing teaching resources.

The above list of duties and responsibilities is not comprehensive and the Teacher is expected to cooperate with the Director and the school administration in order to make sure that the interests of the school and its students are served in the most effective and professional manner.

Education

• Bachelors’ degree in relevant subject area.
• Teaching qualification.
• These must be acceptable to KHDA.

Experience

• Any experience will be viewed favourably but is not always necessary depending on the teaching position.
• Computer Literate: able to use word processing, spreadsheets and educational information technology.
• Bilingual: English is essential and Arabicis desirable. Arabic is essential for teachers of Arabic, Arabic Social Studies and Islamic Studies.

Required Skills

• Knowledge and ability to implement a range of teaching methodologies.
• Knowledge of learning development in children.
• Able to foster and motivate learning in children.
• Competent in using information technology.
• Possess strong English oral and written communication skills.

Working Condition

Work usually performed in a class room and school environment. Job will require some preparation and marking outside school hours.
