The reporting location for this position is Malibu Creek State Park. This position will work under the supervision of the Supervisor, Cultural Resources Program. This position will work under the direction of the Supervisor, Cultural Resources Program and under the lead of the Associate State Archaeologist.
The Archeological Project Leader works to support districtwide Cannabis Watershed Protection Program projects, post-Palisades Fire resource restoration projects and other district projects as needed. Duties include field surveys, monitoring, mapping, preparation of site records and reports, and archaeological collections management. This position reports to the District Collections Facility at Tapia Park (Malibu Creek State Park).
Must be able to lift and carry a box/object weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to work weekends, nights, or holidays. Working outdoors in all seasons with possible exposure to biting insects and poison oak. Working indoors in an office environment and storage container. The conditions require the ability to bend, stoop, lift, sit and stand for long periods of time. Walking over uneven surfaces is necessary. May be required to work at various locations throughout the district.
This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
