Core responsibilities

  • Drafting and design: Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software and conventional drafting methods. This includes preparing preliminary sketches, working drawings, and detailed blueprints.
  • Technical expertise: Translate architects' and engineers' rough sketches and ideas into organized, detailed drawings, incorporating precise dimensions, materials, and procedures.
  • Compliance and regulations: Ensure that all drawings and plans meet current building codes, industry standards, and legal regulations. This involves analyzing building specifications and codes to guarantee adherence in the designs.
  • Collaboration and communication: Work with architects, engineers, construction managers, and clients to understand project requirements and make sure the final drawings accurately reflect the design intent.
  • Site visits: Visit construction sites to collect measurements, verify existing conditions, and ensure that the project is being built according to the plans.

Project support

  • Documentation: Maintain organized and accurate records of all drawings, plans, and project files. Assist in preparing documents for permit applications.
  • Revisions: Update and revise drawings based on feedback from clients, architects, or changes on the construction site. This includes coordinating sheets affected by any modifications.
  • Estimates and coordination: Assist in preparing cost estimates and calculating material requirements. They also coordinate work programs and help with troubleshooting during construction.
  • Technical support: Provide technical support and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
