Seven Oaks Recreation in Boone, Iowa is hiring a full-time, year-round Area Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight across our rental, snow tubing, instruction and lessons, lift attendant, paintball, and river departments.

This is a hands-on leadership role. While each department may have its own supervisors, the Area Manager ensures consistency, accountability, communication, and operational excellence across all assigned areas, working alongside staff and stepping into operational roles during peak periods, special events, and staffing shortages. You will work closely with the President/CEO, Vice-President, and Operations Manager to develop and execute company initiatives, fostering a unified, one-resort culture of excellence and exceptional guest experiences.

Essential responsibilities:

- Provide leadership, oversight, and support across the rental, snow tubing, instruction/lessons, lift attendant, paintball, and river departments

- Hire, train, schedule, and manage staff; directly manage departments without a designated manager and provide accountability for departments with established leaders

- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary action; complete HR and operational documentation accurately and on time

- Analyze and improve systems and procedures to increase efficiency, productivity, and guest satisfaction

- Manage rental equipment inventory, quality standards, warranty administration, and repair programs

- Lead winter season preparations (equipment tuning and repairs, fencing, ropes, signage, padding) and oversee snow removal around lifts, walkways, and guest areas

- Support the Gladiator Assault Challenge mud run course and event layout with the Operations Manager

- Coordinate group reservations with the Office Manager

Qualifications:

- Minimum of five years of progressive management and leadership experience overseeing multiple departments and leading large teams

- Experience with budgeting, strategic planning, and helping to manage capital improvement projects

- General knowledge of the ski and recreation industry preferred (snowmaking, grooming, lift operations, rentals, retail, and food and beverage); willingness to learn required

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

- Must possess a valid driver's license and a CDL with passenger endorsement

- Willingness and availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays during peak season

- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions, including day, night, and extreme weather

- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds

Compensation: $65,000-$72,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits.
