Role Purpose
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for expanding distribution, appointing dealers and distributors across Karnataka, and driving primary and secondary sales growth for edible oil and allied FMCG products. The role requires a self-driven sales professional capable of rapidly building market presence and achieving volume targets.
Key Responsibilities1. Distributor & Dealer Network Expansion
- Identify and appoint new distributors and dealers across assigned districts in Karnataka.
- Target onboarding of 5+ distributors per month to strengthen market reach.
- Evaluate distributor capability, financial strength, and market coverage before appointment.
- Ensure proper onboarding, documentation, and alignment with company policies.
2. Sales Target Achievement
- Achieve minimum 10 MT monthly sales volume through distributor network.
- Drive primary sales to distributors and support secondary sales to retailers.
- Monitor distributor stock levels and ensure continuous product availability.
- Plan and execute sales promotions to increase market penetration.
3. Market Development
- Map potential markets, retail clusters, and competitor presence.
- Identify new growth opportunities in semi-urban and rural markets.
- Conduct regular market visits to build retailer relationships and gather feedback.
- Strengthen brand visibility through local trade engagement.
4. Distributor Performance Management
- Track distributor sales, stock rotation, and payment discipline.
- Support distributors with schemes, pricing communication, and marketing inputs.
- Resolve supply or operational issues quickly to avoid sales disruption.
5. Reporting & Coordination
- Submit weekly sales reports, distributor onboarding updates, and market intelligence.
- Coordinate with logistics, finance, and marketing teams for smooth operations.
- Maintain updated sales forecasts and territory performance dashboards.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong FMCG distribution experience (edible oil preferred)
- Proven ability to appoint distributors and open new markets
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
- Self-starter with strong field execution ability
- Target-oriented with strong ownership mindset
- Good understanding of Karnataka trade channels
Experience & Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline (MBA Sales preferred)
- 4–8 years FMCG sales experience
- Prior experience in edible oil, staples, or grocery distribution preferred
