Area Sales Manager - GT ( Patna)

Role Context:
The Area Sales Manager – General Trade is responsible for driving sales growth, managing a field sales team, and executing trade strategies within a defined geography. The role involves ensuring distributor efficiency, increasing product penetration, and enhancing retail visibility in the beauty and personal care segment. The ASM serves as the key link between company strategy and market execution, ensuring alignment across sales operations and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy & Execution:
  • Achieve primary and secondary sales targets across assigned markets.
  • Execute product launches, pricing plans, and promotional schemes effectively.
  • Maximize territory coverage through efficient beat planning and outlet servicing.
Team Development and Management:
  • Lead and coach Sales Officers and Business Growth Executives.
  • Set performance goals, monitor productivity, and facilitate skill development.
  • Drive team motivation through incentive awareness and regular reviews
Channel Management
  • Appoint, manage, and evaluate distributor partners based on performance KPIs
  • Ensure distributor ROI, timely stock replenishment, and smooth claim processing
  • Expand GT presence by improving numeric and weighted distribution.
Customer Engagement & Brand Promotion
  • Strengthen retailer relationships and ensure brand presence at the shelf.
  • Deploy trade visibility elements like POSM, testers, and planograms
  • Execute BTL marketing and sampling initiatives at the store level.
Sales Analytics & Reporting
  • Track and analyze daily sales reports, stock levels, and scheme effectiveness
  • Generate market intelligence and competition benchmarking insights
  • Provide timely updates through dashboards, beat tracking, and MIS reports

  • Stock Availability & Order Fulfillment
  • Execution of Promotional Campaigns
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) in Sales, Marketing, or Business Administration.
  • 5–8 years of experience in General Trade sales, ideally in the beauty or FMCG industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and distributors.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, sales CRM, and territory management tools.
