ARPC Outreach Coordinator

Description & Details:

The ARPC Outreach Coordinator will support the Agricultural Risk Policy Center by leading content creation and digital outreach efforts. The position is designed to enhance the visibility and accessibility of the Center’s research and policy analysis by developing high-quality written and digital materials for use across websites, social media, newsletters, and media releases. This individual will help communicate the Center’s policy-relevant research in an engaging and accessible way to stakeholders, funders, and the public.

Primary Responsibilities:

Research Communication and Content Development 75%

  • Develop and implement a communication strategy aligned with the Center's goals to raise visibility and demonstrate research impact.
  • Translate academic research into accessible content formats such as policy briefs, infographics, blog posts, and multimedia tailored for diverse audiences.
  • Manage content creation for the Center’s website, newsletters, media releases, and social media, in alignment with NDSU branding guidelines.
  • Design outreach and promotional materials to highlight key research findings and support outreach efforts.
  • Supervise undergraduate interns and contributing to the NDSU ag policy program.
  • Assist with event promotion, stakeholder outreach, and media relations efforts in collaboration with NDSU Ag and University communication.

Outreach, Collaboration, and Strategic Support 25%

  • Coordinate and promote seminars, workshops, and other outreach-focused events that support knowledge exchange.
  • Collaborate with the ARPC Program Coordinator and Center leadership team to ensure consistent, strategically aligned messaging across internal and external channels.
  • Develop and lead training for staff and faculty for communication and media engagement.
  • Contribute to communication-related aspects of grants, including the development and reporting of outreach deliverables and audience engagement metrics.
  • Assist the center leadership in effective meeting management and staff communication.

Analytics and Strategic Improvement 5%

  • Monitor audience and press engagement metrics and adapt outreach strategies to improve reach and effectiveness over time.


Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, 12-month salaried position.

Hiring Range:

$40,000 - $60,000 per year

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (in Economics, Marketing, Communications, or a related field).
  • One year experience in research communication, engagement, and knowledge mobilization.
  • Ability to translate complex research or policy topics into accessible, engaging language.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary and dynamic research and policy environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in responsible and effective use of AI-enabled tools in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (in Economics, Marketing, Communications, or a related field).
  • Interest or background in agriculture, public policy, or higher education.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive mindset and strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with digital communication analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong understanding of the academic research process and its outreach implications.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information for non-academic audiences.
  • Experience with digital communication tools (e.g., WIX, Canva, LinkedIn).
