As Art Advisor at Lilienthal Gallery, you will play a central role in generating revenue, cultivating client relationships, and expanding the gallery’s client base.

This position is sales-forward and relationship-driven. You will actively guide clients, designers, and architects through the art acquisition process, identify new sales opportunities, and strengthen long-term client partnerships. The ideal candidate is confident in consultative sales, comfortable representing fine art, and motivated to grow revenue through both in-person and digital channels.

You will also represent the gallery during public hours, engaging guests, initiating sales conversations, and converting interest into acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sales inquiries, guiding clients through the full acquisition process from initial interest to closing.
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with clients to drive repeat and referral business.
  • Expand the gallery’s client base through personal outreach and collaborate on both digital and print marketing strategies including the online sale platforms Artsy.
  • Personally curate artwork selections and prepare tailored proposals to secure client purchases.
  • Represent the gallery during open hours, confidently engaging visitors and converting inquiries into sales opportunities.
  • Assist with private viewings, VIP appointments, and events designed to cultivate clients.
  • Collaborate with the Gallery Director to identify revenue opportunities and strengthen long-term sales strategy.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Sales experience required; luxury or high-end sales experience strongly preferred
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to confidently discuss fine art and communicate value to clients
  • Experience working with collectors, interior designers, architects, or within art advisory environments preferred
  • Professional, polished presence with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Background in fine art or art history is beneficial
  • Experience with social media, CMS platforms, copywriting, or graphic design is a plus but secondary to demonstrated sales ability.

Hours:

  • Part-time availability, including weekends (every other weekend), and occasional late shifts for special events such as First Fridays (5–9 PM).
  • Regular gallery hours: Wednesday through Sunday, 12–5 PM. Schedule is flexible and can be discussed during the interview process.

Commission Structure:

  • 5% commission on all direct sales personally initiated and closed
  • Additional 2% bonus on total monthly sales if individual sales exceed $25,000 in a month
  • Commission is paid monthly on completed and collected sales.
