Please note that although our team is fully remote, SpinPlay currently only operates out of NV and TX. Candidate must be willing to work from/relocate to those locations. The art team is expected to be available to work during the hours of 9am-3pm Pacific time. Relocation assistance is available.

Position & Job Summary:

The Art Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall productivity, consistency, and efficiency of the art department. This role focuses on building and maintaining clear, sustainable processes that empower Art Directors, Illustrators, Animators, and Technical Artists (TAs) to do their best work, while collaborating closely with Studio Managers, the Principal Animator, and other departmental leads.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish and maintain project management standards across the department, including Jira templates, task naming conventions, and milestone tracking structures.
  • Monitor departmental progress through 5in5s, milestone reports, and Art Director updates; identify and escalate risks or blockers to Studio Managers as appropriate.
  • Lead art department meetings to reinforce standards, promote best practices, and ensure alignment across projects.
  • Collaborate with Art Directors to provide support and tools in order to manage their games efficiently
  • Collaborate with the Principal Animator to oversee Technical Artist (TA) workflows, ensuring technical challenges are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develop, maintain, and update documentation related to onboarding, departmental standards, and pipeline processes.
  • Proactively assess resource needs and flag constraints across Illustrators, Animators, and TAs as within the portfolio.
  • Partner with Studio Managers to evaluate and enhance departmental workflows, communication processes, and long-term scalability.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Design, Animation, Game Development, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in an art, design, or production role within games, animation, or related creative industries.
  • Strong understanding of art production pipelines, workflows, and cross-functional collaboration (Art, Animation, Technical Art, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard art tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Blender, Unity, Unreal) sufficient to understand workflows.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and familiarity with production best practices.
