Job Title: Technology Storyteller & Motion Designer (Explainer Video Creator)
Company: LiveUP Media Location: Remote (UK-based preferred) Role: Part-Time Freelance Compensation: £25 - £35 per hour / Per-Project Basis (Negotiable)
A Note Before You Read On:
We are looking for a specific type of creator: a documentary-style explainer who lives to turn complex subjects into clear, engaging, and intelligent visual stories.
If your creative inspiration comes from channels like Kurzgesagt, TED-Ed, Life Noggin, or the deep-dive documentaries that explain complex historical and technological events, then this is for you.
We are not looking for a generalist animator or video editor.

The Role: What We Actually Do
Our clients are innovative tech and engineering companies building complex platforms. Our job is to do for them what the best educational channels do for their audience: create understanding.
You will be handed access to their world—their software, their data, their vision. Your mission is to immerse yourself, find the core narrative, and build a world-class explainer video. You will be the creative engine, responsible for the entire process from visual research to final animation.
You will make the complex, simple and the technical, beautiful.
This Role Is for You If:
You Are a "Full-Stack" Creator: Like the creators behind the best channels, you are involved in the whole process. You don't just animate; you research, you find the story, and you understand how narration, pacing, and visual evidence create a compelling whole.
You Have a Documentary Sensibility: You know how to build a narrative arc, use motion to enhance comprehension (not just decorate), and have an instinct for what makes a story flow. Experience with 2.5D photo animation or similar documentary techniques is a huge plus.
Your Portfolio is Full of Explainers: Your reel isn't a collection of flashy logos. It's a library of stories. It shows your ability to tackle substantive topics in technology, science, or history and make them accessible.
You Have Built or Powered a Channel: You have either built your own successful channel or have been a key creative force for a growing one. You understand the craft of building an audience through quality content.
Why This is a Unique Opportunity for a Creator:
This is a chance to focus purely on the craft you love.
Creative Autonomy: This isn't a factory. You'll work directly with a founder who understands and respects the creative process of technology storytelling. No storyboards, no bureaucracy, just trust and momentum.
The Structure:
This is a part-time, freelance role, offering the flexibility to continue with your own projects. We pay between £25 - £35 per hour (or on a per-project basis), negotiable based on your experience and portfolio. We are looking for a long-term creative partner, and for the right person, this can evolve into a more permanent position.
How to Apply:
We want to see your work, not read a generic cover letter.
Your Portfolio Link: This is essential.
Your Channel Link: Send us a link to the YouTube (or similar) channel you have built or are a primary creative force behind.
Your Proudest Video: In your email, tell us which single explainer video you are most proud of and write a short paragraph explaining the story behind creating it—the research, the narrative challenge, or the animation breakthrough.
We look forward to meeting you.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary, Internship
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 35 per week
