Job Purpose:
The Art Teacher (Primary Section) is responsible for introducing young learners to the world of creativity and self-expression through drawing, painting, crafts, and other visual arts activities. The role aims to nurture imagination, develop motor skills, and build an appreciation for art in alignment with NJV School’s curriculum and learning standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging art lessons appropriate for primary level students.
- Introduce basic techniques of drawing, coloring, painting, and crafts.
- Develop students’ creativity, imagination, and confidence in artistic expression.
- Prepare age-appropriate lesson plans and teaching resources aligned with the curriculum.
- Organize hands-on activities such as clay modeling, collage making, and craft projects.
- Encourage students to experiment with different art materials and mediums.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
- Assess student progress through observation, classwork, and participation.
- Display students’ artwork in classrooms, hallways, and school events to promote confidence.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art into cross-curricular projects.
- Prepare students for art exhibitions, competitions, and cultural activities.
- Manage classroom materials, tools, and supplies responsibly.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about students’ creativity and areas of improvement.
- Support school-wide initiatives, annual functions, and celebrations with art-related contributions.
- Participate in professional development workshops and training sessions organized by NJV School.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts / Visual Arts / Art Education (Diploma in Arts acceptable for primary level).
- Prior experience in teaching art at primary/elementary level preferred.
- Strong creative skills and knowledge of basic art techniques suitable for children.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and ability to engage young learners.
- Good communication and classroom management skills.
- Familiarity with using modern teaching aids and art materials.
