Artificial Intelligence Team Lead

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for an AI team.
• Oversee the team's workflow (Agile/Scrum), ensuring efficient delivery, high code quality, and robust CI/CD/MLOps practices.
• Manage project planning, resource allocation, and timeline estimation for AI initiatives.
• Translate high-level business objectives into technical roadmaps for AI and Data Science products.
• Drive high-level architectural decisions, selecting the right tools, frameworks, and cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability and performance.
• Stay ahead of the curve on AI trends and guide the team in moving valid PoCs into production.
• Provide expert guidance on complex problems and mentor team members on technical challenges.
• Ensure the reliability and scalability of data pipelines, labeling processes, and model deployment strategies.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and other Engineering Leads to ensure cross-functional alignment

AI Development & Architecture

• Build AI infrastructure, including model serving, monitoring, and observability systems.
• Design and build AI Agents capable of complex reasoning, multi-step planning, and tool execution.
• Lead the development of RAG systems and agent memory services.
• Design and develop multi-agent systems where specialized agents collaborate to execute workflows, manage state, and handle error recovery autonomously.
• Lead the fine-tuning and alignment of commercial and open-source LLMs for domain-specific tasks.
• Design ML models and statistical algorithms for user behavior analysis, segmentation, and personalization.
• Design recommendation systems, including collaborative filtering, content-based methods, and deep learning-based approaches.

Qualifications

• BSc degree in Computer Engineering, AI, Mathematics, or a related field (MSc/PhD preferred).
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Data Science, MLOps, and AI development after bachelor graduation.
• Currently holding a senior or lead-level position.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming and data science libraries.
• Experience with recommendation systems algorithms and concepts.
• Hands-on experience with frameworks for building and integrating RAG and LLM-based applications.
• Proficiency with CI/CD processes and MLOps best practices.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability and motivation to self-teach, enter new domains, and manage ambiguity.

Preferred / Nice-to-have Qualifications

• MSc or Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence or Data Science.
• Certifications or deep experience with AWS/GCP/Azure AI services.
• Published papers or active contributions to the open-source AI community.
• Experience with model monitoring, A/B testing frameworks, and production ML systems at scale.

Interview Process

1. Phone Screening: Initial discussion to review experience and leadership fit.
2. Technical Assessment: A challenging assessment covering system design and algorithmic problem-solving.
3. Final Interview: Discussion with Engineering Management/C-Level regarding vision and cultural fit.

Important Note

Candidates must have at least 7 years of professional experience in AI/Data Science after graduation and currently hold a senior or lead-level position. Candidates with less experience will not be considered for this Team Lead role.
