POSITION:
ASD Resource- Lafayette

  • 3-5 (1 Position)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Michigan Special Education Teacher Certification (ASD teacher certification required)
  • Experience in a resource room preferred
  • Must meet North Central requirements for the position
  • Must meet MCL 380.1531 & Administrative Rules Governing the Certification of MI Teachers
  • Experience and knowledge of instructional, behavioral and communication strategies as well as best practices for supporting students with ASD
  • Classroom instruction and instructional leader for meeting the needs of Special Education students, and specifically for students with ASD
  • Other requirements as determined by the Lincoln Park Board of Education

DUTIES:

  • Adapt, accommodate, and modify the general education curricula, pedagogy, and learning environments for students.
  • Align and adapt the student’s program with the general education curriculum
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized behavior management strategies and plans. Must prepare and implement behavior plans based on functional behavioral assessments.
  • Employ current assessment instruments and approaches, intervention methodologies, strategies, and techniques that are appropriate for students linking assessment outcomes to curriculum planning.
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers and multidisciplinary team
  • Use appropriate technology tools
  • Implement trauma-informed/resiliency based strategies & interventions
  • Implement building wide PBIS
  • Case manager for special education paperwork
  • Communicate to all members of the school & community effectively
  • Maintain compliance with special education timelines and required paperwork and documentation
  • Meet the physical and mental demands of the teaching profession and the position
  • Maintain a philosophy in accordance with the Lincoln Park Public Schools
  • Follow directions of supervisors
  • Provide classroom instruction and serve as an instructional leader for meeting the needs of Special Education students
  • Other duties as required by Executive Director of Special Education and Building Principal
