Job Description: Asphalt Plant MechanicPosition Summary
The Asphalt Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of asphalt production plants. The role ensures maximum plant uptime, reliability, and safety through preventive and corrective maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair asphalt plant equipment, including dryers, mixers, conveyors, silos, burners, and dust collection systems.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and mechanical adjustments when required.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Preventive Maintenance
- Carry out scheduled servicing of plant equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Maintain lubrication schedules and replace worn-out parts.
- Ensure proper calibration of weighing and feeding systems.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow company and regulatory safety standards during maintenance activities.
- Ensure equipment is safe and operational before returning to service.
- Keep records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Support Operations
- Assist plant operators during production start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support during emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with supervisors and spare parts store for timely replacement of components.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in maintenance of asphalt plants, crushers, or heavy industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Welding and fabrication skills are preferred.

- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.

- Ability to work under pressure and flexible schedules (nights/weekends if required).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in outdoor environments with heat, dust, and noise.
- Capable of lifting heavy parts and working at heights or confined spaces.
- Standing, bending, and climbing for extended periods.
