Skills and Competencies

  • 2+ years of industry experience, preferably in catastrophe risk modelling
  • Strong programming skills in Python/.net languages for workflow automation
  • Hands-on experience in database management systems (SQL server, MS Access, PostgreSQL/PostGIS) to create and/or use large databases
  • Good working knowledge in GIS (ESRI and Opensource GIS) to handle spatial data
  • Good data analytics to generate the insights and trends in the data generated by the team
  • Desired to have basic understanding of natural catastrophe risk models to work with Moody’s RiskLink/RiskModeler software

Education

  • Postgraduate in geoinformatics, remote sensing, any engineering/science

Responsibilities

  • Generates data products for primary underwriting process, derives insights, identifies trends from the data, and builds dashboards to show patterns clearly.
  • Develop loss cost and risk score products as per defined roadmap
  • Implementing workflow automation with Python or .NET languages to enhance the efficiency of data product development
  • Conduct comprehensive quality assurance on data products to ensure they are free of defects
  • Develop dashboards to effectively present data insights and trends
  • Create customized GIS tools and modify existing ones using open-source/proprietary GIS libraries

Our team is primarily responsible for developing data products that enable near-instant underwriting insight at an unprecedented resolution for use in real-time pricing, quoting decisions, and accumulation management. These products are part of Moody’s data strategy helping clients improve business decisions and better manage risk by providing key data and insights.
