Assessment Specialist

Job Title: Test Scorer / Reader

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (Mandatory Core Hours)

Work Environment: Quiet, classroom-style professional setting

Position Overview:

Our Client is an educational testing company responsible for designing, developing, scoring, and analyzing standardized tests administered to students in grades K–12 in alignment with Common Core standards. The Test Scorer/Reader position involves evaluating and scoring student responses in subject areas including reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science. This role requires careful review of written responses, essays, and problem-solving explanations to ensure accurate scoring based on established scoring guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Score student test responses, including essays, written explanations, and mathematical problem-solving work, using defined scoring criteria.

Review responses through an online scoring system or scanned test images presented on a computer.

Apply state-provided scoring guidelines accurately and consistently to ensure fair evaluation.

Complete required training and pass a qualifying assessment before scoring live test responses.

Maintain focus and productivity in a quiet, team-oriented, classroom-like work environment.

Follow all project procedures, scoring standards, and quality expectations.

Collaborate with Team Leaders and Scoring Directors to ensure scoring accuracy and compliance.

Work Environment and Expectations:

Work in a structured, quiet environment similar to a classroom or library setting.

Sit and work at a computer for extended periods while maintaining concentration and accuracy.

Attend mandatory training and orientation sessions and adhere to the full project schedule.

Follow scoring standards objectively without introducing personal opinions or bias.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Science or Social Sciences from an accredited university is required (diploma or official transcripts must be provided and maintained throughout the project).

Strong reading comprehension and analytical skills.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply scoring criteria consistently.

Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

Must be reliable and available to work the full required schedule.

Technical Requirements:

Laptop or desktop computer with reliable high-speed internet connection.

Google Chrome browser compatibility.

Working audio, video, and microphone capabilities.

Quiet and distraction-free workspace.

Training and Assessment:

Candidates must complete project-specific training and pass a qualifying assessment before beginning live scoring. Training ensures full understanding of scoring guidelines and evaluation standards.
