The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence among its faculty, staff, and students. We invite applications for Specialist positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank.
The Specialist series is for academic appointees focused on neuroscience research, professional contributions, and university- or public-service activities, without formal teaching duties. Specialists apply advanced expertise in areas such as neuroimaging, electrophysiology, molecular neurobiology, or computational modeling to advance the university’s neuroscience programs and gain recognition in the scientific community.
Key Responsibilities:
Appointment level/rank will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Candidates must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) or a Ph.D. (or equivalent research doctorate) in neurosciences, basic sciences, or a health-related field.
Candidates with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) are eligible to apply only for the Assistant or Associate Specialist ranks.
Candidates with a Ph.D. (or equivalent research doctorate) are eligible to apply for any rank; the Full Specialist rank requires a Ph.D. (or equivalent research doctorate).
