The Environmental Enforcement Section is seeking an attorney who has excellent oral, writing, advocacy, client communication, and negotiation skills. The successful candidate will balance litigation responsibilities in two primary areas of environmental enforcement. One is prosecuting environmental crimes, serving as lead and co-counsel in criminal prosecutions in numerous state courts, including as trial counsel in hearings, bench, and jury trials; along with handling case management. The successful candidate will also serve as lead and co-counsel in civil enforcement litigation in federal and state courts, including as trial counsel in preliminary injunction and contempt hearings and bench trials, along with their appeals, with the support of paralegal staff. Other duties include administrative litigation before commissions, rulemaking reviews, and case management. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarters location is 30 E. Broad St., Columbus.
