Primary Function: To aid the Business Manager in performing his/her duties.
Reports to: Business Manager
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
Extensive knowledge base of policies and procedures for Pennsylvania school district financial functions
Computer skills
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all general fund revenue and accounts receivable and the recording and reconciliation of monthly trial balances
- Maintain bookkeeping and prepare reports for federal programs. Prepare records accordingly
- Maintain general fund accounting
- Prepare year-end trial balances and adjustments for all accounts and work with auditors at fiscal year end
- Assist with payroll application
- Reconciliation of fund accounts with financial statements
- Serves as accountant for all local, federal, and state funds approved by the school board
- Provides monthly accounting of all income and expenditures
- Assists in preparing the District budget
- Assists in the project of revenues and expenditures
- Monitor cash flow
- Provides accounting services essential to the preparation, administration, supervision, and control of the budget
- Reports on the accounting affairs of the District
- Provides financial information requested by the State Department of Education
- Reviews and reports W-2 information to the Social Security Administration, and all other tax bureaus
- Assumes responsibility for all tax, accounting, and other financial matters which may affect the district to make sure that the District complies with all known regulations that the financial records are in line with generally accepted accounting standards for government entities
- Act as payroll officer for the District. Supervises the management of payroll, assure proper accounting of pay funds, retirement issues, etc.
- Acts for the Business Manager in his/her absence
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned
