The ideal candidate is interested in plants and gardening. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Creates suggested orders of basic merchandise as directed by Department Buyer.

Reviews zero quantity on hand reports weekly.

Checks the Buyers list for special orders daily.

Updates catalogs and price lists with most current pricing and cost information.

Works in conjunction with Accounts Payable on matching credit memos with debit memos and with Data Processing on updating perpetual inventory information.

Assist sales associates with bin lable maintenance when retail prices change or merchandise is marked for store closeout/discontinued.

Perform data entry and process pre-season orders for seasonal merchandise changes.
Non-Essential Job Functions:

Provides support documents and information on all returns to returns coordinator.

Assists sales associates with maintaining inventory count accuracy.

Participates in hands-on training of the features, benefits, application, and "how to sell" of the products in the area of responsibility.

Works in conjunction with the Buyer and Section Manager on shrinkage prevention programs, maintains high awareness of causes of loss, and reports all security violations to Store Management.

Maintains a clean and safe work area for customers and employees, executes the proper reporting of accidents and/or safety hazards, knows the location and operation of fire extinquishers, and trains other employees on any hazardous materials sold in the section and proper procedures for spill clean-up.

Other duties as assigned.

Experiences working in a retail environment as a sales associate, supervisor, manager, or buyer's assistant; or experience as a retail sales associate/cashier combined with previous office administrative experience.

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, proficient in Excel.

Familiarity with Eagle Inventory Control System is a plus.

Utilized training to stay up to date with any software changes that affect buyer's role.
