Hiring: Assistant Cook – CHUANWEI RESTAURANT

CHUANWEI RESTAURANT, a premier destination for authentic Chinese cuisine, is seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Cook to support our Head Chef and culinary team. This role is essential for maintaining the high standards of speed, quality, and hygiene in our kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation (Prep): Execute advanced prep tasks, including washing, chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients (vegetables, meats, seafood) with speed and precision.
  • Wok Station Support: Assist the Wok Chef by ensuring all ingredients and sauces are pre-portioned and immediately available during peak service times.
  • Stock and Inventory: Monitor stock levels of key ingredients and notify the Head Chef of items needing reordering. Assist with receiving and proper storage of deliveries.
  • Hygiene and Safety: Maintain the highest levels of kitchen cleanliness, including sanitizing work surfaces, washing utensils, and ensuring equipment meets health code standards.
  • General Support: Assist with basic cooking tasks, sauce preparation, and plating under the direct supervision of the Head Chef.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience in a fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Experience with Chinese or Asian cuisine is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent and demonstrated knife skills for efficient and consistent chopping and dicing. Familiarity with standard kitchen equipment (slicers, mixers, fryers).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, work in a hot environment, and lift up to 25 kg (e.g., heavy stock pots, ingredient bags) when required.
  • Hygiene: Up-to-date knowledge of general food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Teamwork and Attitude: Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to follow directions precisely in a high-pressure, collaborative team setting.
  • Availability: Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as these are critical service periods.
