Job Description and Duties
The Assistant Chief supervises staff and oversees operations at the Sugar Pine Conservation Camp as well as Battalions 1 and 2 within the Shasta-Trinity Unit. The position will be headquartered and primarily located at Sugar Pine Conservation Camp in Bella Vista, CA.

Working Conditions
May be subject to working nights, weekends, or holidays to complete duties.
Due to the scope and responsibilities of the position, regular travel throughout the East Division is required to complete duties. Travel throughout the Shasta-Trinity Unit, Shasta County, Northern Region, and state will also be required.

Special Requirements

The incumbent is required to wear respiratory protection equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The use of such equipment may place a physiological burden on the incumbent that varies with the type of equipment used, the job and workplace conditions in which the equipment is used, and the medical status of the incumbent. As such, the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) requires that the incumbent be annually medically cleared to be fit-tested for respiratory protection equipment. This clearance process consists of a comprehensive medical evaluation including a review of the incumbent's medical history, a complete physical examination, and vision, hearing, spirometry, and exercise treadmill test.
Possession of a valid Driver's License of the appropriate class issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles is required and must be verified prior to appointment.

Compliance is determined by completing a Live Scan prior to appointment and during the course of employment to verify the standards of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 115 Prison Rape Elimination Act National Standards are met.
