The University of Dayton Department of Counselor Education and Human Services is seeking applications for a full-time 9-month Assistant Clinical Professor specializing in School Psychology beginning August 16, 2026. School Psychology faculty teach in a NASP-approved MS/Ed.S. program.

Expectations of the position include teaching graduate courses in school psychology in person at our satellite campus in Columbus, Ohio, with opportunities to teach in Dayton; supervising graduate student practicum and field experiences; recruiting, advising, and mentoring graduate students; directing and supporting master’s thesis/scholarly projects; providing service to the program, department, university, community, and profession; and demonstrating a commitment to inclusive excellence.

While local residency is not required and teaching will primarily be located in Columbus, assistant clinical professors are expected to attend monthly Department and Unit meetings and occasional University faculty meetings/training on our main campus in Dayton.

The Department of Counselor Education and Human Services offers four graduate degree concentrations. We have established partnerships with area schools, and our faculty regularly collaborate on program and research initiatives. The department is housed within the School of Education and Health Sciences, whose work is grounded in Marianist values of community-building, service to others, and the common good. • Completed doctoral program coursework in school psychology (ABD) from a NASP or APA accredited program
• Licensed or license-eligible as a school psychologist.
• Potential for excellence in:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Earned a doctorate in school psychology;
• Successful experience in one or more of the following:
  • teaching within the United States system of higher education;
  • teaching within the United States system of higher education at the graduate level
  • using instructional technology within both face-to-face and online teaching
  • school psychologist in a K-12 setting;
  • scientist-practitioner model of training and practice;
  • employing active and inclusive learning strategies to foster and maintain student engagement;
  • working in a collaborative and/or interdisciplinary environment
  • working with and/or teaching socially and culturally diverse communities
  • advising and/or mentoring students
  • providing supervision to school psychologist trainees
    recruiting individuals from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups
• Record of Scholarship in school psychology;
• Current membership in professional organizations;
• Nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP);
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Effective oral communication skills
• Effective classroom management skills
• Commitment to breadth of education, including education of the whole person in the Marianist tradition of social justice and a commitment of service to the community, university and profession
