The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Houston Dash is seeking an experienced Assistant Coach with demonstrated expertise in In Possession and Final Third tactical principles and their implementation. The Assistant Coach will play a key role in supporting the Head Coach and team during matches, tournaments, training sessions, and all team-related activities.

Duties And Responsibilities

In-Game Support

  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of the game plan and identify the key variables influencing performance.
  • Diagnose problems quickly (tactical, technical, physical, psychosocial) and provide targeted solutions with immediate clarity.
  • Contribute to tactical analysis and other staff duties as needed.

Training & Teaching

  • Design and lead team training elements pertaining to in possession and final third tactics
  • Conduct small group and 1-on-1 film review meetings and review training clips with individual players.
  • Experienced in session planning, session review, and high-performance processes to improve the team and individual within training.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches to align on playing philosophy and individual development goals.

On-Field Coaching

  • Excellent on-field presence, with expertise in session design, delivery and coaching detail to elevate team and player development / performance.
  • Lead or assist with small group technical sessions to improve technical skills in key areas.
  • Support and help facilitate phase progressions in training including field set up and breakdown, activity transitions and tactic board instructions.
  • Support lead coaches for additional responsibilities.

Technical & Analytical Expertise

  • Experience using Sportscode and other analytical software to assess and present individual / team performance.
  • Connect data and video to player development by highlighting how metrics impact performance.
  • Deliver engaging, detailed presentations—both verbally and through video analysis—to communicate key concepts effectively.

Performance Evaluation & Feedback

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of each player’s technical abilities, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
  • Break down complex technical skills into actionable drills.
  • Provide real-time, constructive feedback during sessions, focusing on both positive aspects and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor progress over time through data collection and regular assessments, updating training plans accordingly.

Innovation & Elevation

  • Bring new ideas for communication logs, feedback channels, and tracking video content to continually elevate the technical program.

Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain up-to-date evaluations, training plans, and progress notes for use by the Head Coach and Technical Staff.
  • Abide by all applicable local, state, and federal laws, National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) policies, and Club guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Club.

Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • USSF “A” or UEFA “A” Coaching License and on a pathway to Pro License.
  • Experience working in elite soccer at the national team, professional, and/or collegiate levels.
  • Professional & international playing experience preferred.
  • Experience, familiarity, and network within international soccer preferred.
  • Must be able to work long hours, weekends, and some holidays – as needed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have the ability to travel internationally.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and Holidays
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Keynote and Video Analysis tools
