Our primary office is in Allen, Texas, with the VP of Finance based in our United Kingdom offices.
Position Summary
The Assistant Controller is a hands-on financial leader responsible for producing timely, accurate monthly financial statements; ensuring strong internal controls; managing core accounting processes; and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and analysis across the business. This role reports to the VP of Finance to generate financials and accompanying reports and works with the Chairman for long-term strategic development. They are a critical member of senior management and support the CEO and his team with the information necessary to make optimal business decisions. There is a clear advancement path toward a Controller-level role as the business continues to scale. This position is a hands-on role that requires a disciplined, detail-oriented, proactive, and intellectually curious financial professional.
Key Responsibilities-
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

Prepare timely, accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).

Prepares with the junior accountant the monthly account reconciliations

Maintain the month-end close checklist and timeline.

Produce monthly management reporting packages and flag inconsistencies
-
Create and deliver commission reports
-
General Ledger Management
-
Maintain the GL in NetSuite.
-
Prepare monthly reconciliations (cash, inventory, accruals, prepaid, liabilities, payroll, etc.).
-
Investigate variances and ensure GAAP compliance.
-
Cost Accounting & Project Accounting
-
Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs through individual job reporting.
-
Ensure accurate project profitability reporting.
-
Perform margin analysis by customer, division, and business line.
-
Cash & Working Capital Management
-
Reconcile bank accounts.
-
Prepare cash flow projections.
-
Oversee AR collections and AP payment cycles.
-
Ensure accuracy of inventory.
-
AR / AP and Credit Card Oversight
-
Ensure accuracy of customer invoicing and vendor payments.
-
Monitor aging reports and resolve discrepancies.
-
Complete annual 1099-NEC filings.
-
Credit card program oversight and reconciliation using RAMP

Inventory & Fixed Assets
-
Reconcile inventory balances.
-
Oversee physical counts.
-
Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation.
-
Payroll & Commissions
-
Review payrolls for accuracy and consistency
-
Calculate quarterly commission reports in accordance with plans and project profitability

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
-
Assist in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.

Build revenue, margin, and expense models.
-
Support business leaders with analytical insights.

Document assumptions used to support the budget

Regulatory & Compliance
-
Prepare sales/use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.

Support external accountants with audit and tax filings.
-
Maintain compliance with payroll and benefits reporting.
-
Systems & Process Improvement

Qualifications-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

A CPA is a plus
-
5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.

NetSuite experience preferred.
-
Strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
-
Desire to grow into a Controller role within 12–24 months.
